Let us take a look at the top 8 WWE News & Professional Wrestling stories of the hour:
8. Will The Cruiserweight Championship Return?
As we noted before, Stephanie McMahon announced on Raw that the Cruiserweight Division will be returning and it will be an exclusive part of Monday Night Raw. The question now is will the Cruiserweight Championship return as well?
Word as of now is that there are plans for the Cruiserweight Championship to return but the return of the belt depends upon when the Cruiserweight division will become active on Raw. There’s no word yet on if the division will be active from next week’s Raw or if WWE will wait for the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament to finish.
The WWE Cruiserweight Classic has a weight limit of 205 lbs instead of 220 lbs. This was made to make sure most of WWE’s top stars don’t fall in the Cruiserweight category (but still most of the top wrestlers competing for the Heavyweight Title fall in the Cruiserweight category). It will be interesting to see how many current wrestlers on the main roster become a part of the Cruiserweight divison as the current WWE Champion Dean Ambrose also falls in the Cruiserweight category (he’s billed at 225 lbs but in reality he’s around 190 lbs).
7. Baron Corbin & Kalisto Facing Off At Battleground 2016?
As seen on Raw, “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin defeated Sin Cara. Corbin attaked Sin Cara after the match and this led to former United States Champion Kalisto making the save for his former tag team partner).
The segment ended with Corbin taking out Kalisto as well. With Corbin not being booked for this Sunday’s Battleground 2016 PPV, it looks like WWE will book a match between Corbin & Kalisto for the PPV, possibly on the Kickoff Show.
Below is Corbin’s WWE PPV record till now:
– WrestleMania 32: Wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
– Payback 2016: Lost to Dolph Ziggler on the Kickoff show.
– Extreme Rules 2016: Defeated Dolph Ziggler in a No DQ match on the Kickoff show.
– Money In The Bank 2016: Defeated Dolph Ziggler.
