In a surprising move, WWE allegedly issued an internal directive preventing on-screen talent from wearing R-Truth merchandise during this week’s episode of RAW. According to a report from WrestleVotes, the company made a conscious effort to keep R-Truth-related gear off television, even as other performers were seen showing support for recently departed stars.
“Yeah, we’ve seen it in the past. Guys get hurt, people move on, you see one of their shirts snuck in. That happened [on RAW] with Carlito, Dominik Mysterio had a Carlito shirt on on TV,” the report stated, referencing the usual informal tributes WWE wrestlers often make to their colleagues.
But when it came to R-Truth, the policy seemed to shift. “But supposedly they didn’t want any R-Truth shirts being worn by talent,” the report continued, sparking speculation among fans about why the long-standing veteran was treated differently.
R-Truth Absence Sparks Fan Response on RAW
Despite WWE’s alleged attempt to limit visual references to R-Truth, the live crowd wasn’t shy about making their opinions known. Throughout the night, loud “We Want Truth” chants broke out in the arena, demonstrating just how beloved the veteran performer continues to be with the WWE Universe.
Fans have long admired R-Truth for his comedic timing, versatility, and commitment to entertaining across decades of service. His most recent work as part of John Cena’s ongoing stories had only reignited interest in his character.
CM Punk Responds to “We Want Truth” Chants
The chants even caught the attention of CM Punk, who addressed them after RAW went off the air. With the cameras no longer rolling, Punk quipped to the crowd:
“How dare you chant for somebody that’s not here.”

While the tone was sarcastic, the remark only amplified speculation surrounding Truth’s absence. Punk’s comment didn’t clarify the situation, but it did confirm that backstage eyes—and ears—are fully aware of the fans’ reaction.
WWE Reportedly Offered R-Truth Another Contract
According to Jonathan Coachman, Truth was offered a new contract with less pay, but Truth declined. Here’s what The Coach said on The Coach & Bro Show:
“I should put this out there because I had somebody reach out to me. And, reportedly, and I have not confirmed this, but, reportedly, they did offer R-Truth a contract that was far less money than what he was making, and he decided to turn that down. That’s what somebody told me that’s in the know.”
