• WWE Had A Huge Match Planned For The Rock At WrestleMania 30
WWF Legend The Rock was a part of 6 straight WrestleMania events from 2011 to 2016 (WrestleMania 27 to 32). Below are his roles for all these WrestleManias:
WrestleMania 27 – Host of the show, attacked John Cena in the main event
WrestleMania 28 – defeated John Cena in the main event
WrestleMania 29 – lost the WWE Championship to John Cena in the main event
WrestleMania 30 – kicked off the show with an in-ring segment with Hulk Hogan & Stone Cold Steve Austin
WrestleMania 31 – confronted Triple H & Stephanie McMahon, joined forces with then UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey to take them out
WrestleMania 32 – defeated Erick Rowan in an impromptu match in 6 seconds, joined forces with the returning John Cena to take out The Wyatt Family
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet in July 2014, The Great One revealed that the original plan, most likely for WrestleMania 30, was for him to face Brock Lesnar in a rematch from SummerSlam 2002.
However, Rock getting injured at WrestleMania 29 prevented that from happening:
“After last year’s WrestleMania (29), the idea was I was going to set up a great match between myself and Brock Lesnar. Then I got hurt and the plan got canceled.”
When Rock got injured during his rematch against Cena, it resulted in the production of his Hercules movie getting halted. Due to this reason, Rock never wrestled a proper match in WWE again because he was always filming some movie around WrestleMania time, and he couldn’t take bumps in WWE due to movie insurance reasons.
Also during this Chris Van Vliet interview, Rock was asked if Roman Reigns would be a perfect opponent for him next. Rock then said now would not be the right time as Reigns is not WWE’s top heel.
Here we are, 8 years later, Reigns is the #1 star in WWE today and is also a heel. Also, we recently reported that Rock’s movie schedule is clear on the road to WrestleMania 39, so the chances of The Rock vs. Roman Reigns finally happening, at WrestleMania Hollywood, are higher than ever!

• ON THIS DAY IN WWF HISTORY (May 28, 1989) – WWF Wrestling Challenge
On this day in 1989, the World Wrestling Federation aired an episode of their weekly TV show ‘WWF Wrestling Challenge’.
It was broadcasted from the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines, Iowa and featured pre-taped matches, promos & storyline segments on the road to the ‘WWF SummerSlam 1989’ PPV.
