WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has often criticized All Elite Wrestling and questioned Tony Khan’s skills as a booker.
On his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff stated he believes AEW Dynamite will never hit 1 million viewers again. He even said he would bet a large sum of money on it. While he acknowledged that a significant change in the company’s vision, strategy, or creative team could potentially alter the situation, he deemed such a change unlikely.
Bischoff assessed the current state of AEW, including its behind-the-scenes work, and doubted it would ever reach a million viewers again, suggesting they would be fortunate to hit 800,000.
With the football season approaching, he predicted AEW would struggle to maintain even that number. He speculated that a change in direction or ideas might help, but dismissed the chances of success if the focus remains on excessive blood and high spots.
Here’s what the former WCW President said:
“They may not ever succeed in ever getting a million viewers again. I got a lot of money on it. What could they possibly do now? If there’s a massive change in vision and strategy, and people involved in the creative process, then maybe—there’s always hope, but we both know how likely that is. So setting that aside, I’m looking at what they’ve got, where they’ve been, and the talent. I’m not talking about the talent in the ring, but the talent behind the camera.
There is absolutely no reason to believe they’ll ever hit a million again. They’re going to be lucky to hit 800,000 again. We’re going into fall and football and college football, and I think they’ll have a hard time seeing 800,000.
Like I said, maybe it’ll start a chain reaction of creative vision or ideas, or just throw some other sh*t up against the wall—something that doesn’t involve f**king blood and 300 high spots.”
