Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving SmackDown and CM Punk.
• Baron Corbin joined the main roster again earlier this year as part of the WWE Draft, becoming a regular on SmackDown. Though he was initially hesitant about being teamed with Apollo Crews, he eventually grew to appreciate the partnership.
Despite this, WWE Creative hasn’t given much focus to Corbin and Crews on TV. Since his last televised match on the July 19 episode of SmackDown, Corbin has been absent from TV matches.
He’s been present at several SmackDown tapings and is not dealing with any injuries. Recently, Corbin has participated in dark matches with The O.C. and Los Garza.
According to Fightful Select, WWE officials have lost interest in Corbin and Crews:
“Originally, Baron Corbin wasn’t sold on the idea of being in a tag team with Apollo Crews, but he grew to like it. However, WWE creative hasn’t been keen on booking them, and the two have worked several dark matches in recent months.”

• During an appearance on No Contest Wrestling, CM Punk faced an interesting question: who would he choose to have by his side in a 50-person bar fight?
Punk had to follow a few guidelines for the scenario, including picking only current roster members and avoiding two legendary tough guys, Haku and Harley Race. Additionally, Punk was told he wasn’t restricted to just WWE talent for his selections.
Punk picked Bron Breakker, Shayna Baszler, Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe. Here’s what the former WWE Champion said:
“I’m taking Bron Breakker. I’m taking Shayna Baszler. She’s with me. She’s my homie. I feel like Braun Strowman is a good pick for this type of situation. Nicest guy in the world, but if we’ve got to get out of here, he’s making a hole.
I don’t know about the statute of limitations, but there have been some situations in the early 2000s where maybe somebody who looked a lot like me and somebody who looked a lot like Samoa Joe were in similar situations.”
