• WWE Is Targeting AEW Once Again

WrestleVotes reported the following today: “We’re told WWE has an interesting location lined up for an upcoming NXT TV — Tuesday, August 19 at the 2300 Arena in Philly. That show comes just one week before AEW kicks off its 7-show residency at the same venue.”

WWE’s business tactics to undermine AEW continue. AEW will have their biggest PPV of 2025, All In: Texas, on July 12th. WWE also booked a Saturday Night’s Main Event special on the same date.

To avoid going head-to-head with WWE, AEW gave All In a special start time of 3 PM ET. However, WWE announced that NXT The Great American Bash PLE will take place on the same date as well, and it will take place during the afternoon, thus going head-to-head with AEW All In.

WWE has been counter-programming AEW PPVs a lot as of late. The AEW Double Or Nothing PPV this past Sunday went head-to-head against the WWE NXT Battleground PLE.

During the post-Double Or Nothing media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about WWE’s counter-programming tactics, and here’s what Khan replied:

“It’s pretty consistent. I’d say it’s the most consistent event head-to-head scheduling I’ve seen since Jim Crockett Promotions… saw a lot of scheduling that went that way.

I can tell you this will go a lot differently than that did.”

Fightful Select reported that the July 12th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta will either feature an appearance from Goldberg or Goldberg competing in his retirement match.

• RAW & SmackDown To Take Place On The Same Night Next Month

The June 30th episode of RAW in Pittsburgh at the PPG Paints Arena will have a special start time of 5:30 PM EST.

This is because WWE is going to tape the July 4th episode of SmackDown on the same night.

PPG Paints Arena confirmed this:

“Breaking News: Our previously scheduled WWE Monday Night Raw will now include Friday Night SmackDown on June 30th right here in Pittsburgh! TWO SHOWS, ONE NIGHT! Get your tickets now!”

According to Andrew Baydala, SmackDown is being taped on the same night because WWE wants to give their wrestlers and staff the July 4th weekend off.
