The wrestling world is buzzing with speculation: will Beth Phoenix, the formidable ‘Glamazon’, follow her husband Cope (fka Edge) to AEW? After her WWE contract expired last year, and without a new offer or legends contract on the table, Phoenix’s future has become a hot topic.
The question gained traction when Cope was recently interviewed by TV Insider. He was asked specifically about the possibility of Phoenix stepping into the ring to face Marina Shafir, a match many fans believe would add significant fire to the ongoing Death Riders storyline.
Cope’s response, while not a definitive yes, left the door open. “You never know,” he stated, “I don’t think she has completely closed the door on it if the situation fits.”
However, he also emphasized the practical considerations that led AEW to involve Willow Nightingale in the current narrative. “I think where we were at, I think getting Willow (Nightingale) involved was good. Someone who was already on our roster, and I feel is just such a natural babyface and has such good energy. I thought she would be really cool to implement her into the story. Why not use someone who was already on the roster?”
Beyond roster logistics, Copeland highlighted the challenges of coordinating their schedules. “Beth is also pretty busy. She has a pretty busy life, so it becomes more a family issue and how do we pull it off if we’re both outgoing.”
Despite these logistical hurdles, the desire to see Phoenix in AEW is clear. Britt Baker has publicly expressed her wish for Phoenix to join the roster, echoing the sentiments of many fans who believe she would be a valuable addition, especially in tandem with her husband.
Cope will team up with FTR to take on Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, and Wheeler Yuta for the AEW Trios Championship at the upcoming Dynasty PPV on April 6.
