Jeff Hardy has a dedicated fanbase in pro wrestling, but his career has been overshadowed by issues with substance abuse. He got a fresh start with AEW, but a DUI incident ended that opportunity.

In June 2022, Jeff was arrested for DUI in Florida. He has struggled with substance abuse throughout his life. He entered a plea of nolo contendere, avoiding jail time, but his driver’s license was suspended for 10 years, meaning he won’t be driving legally for a decade.

The Hardy Boyz were set to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship in 2022, but Jeff’s arrest derailed those plans. They stayed with AEW until earlier this year, when they left the company. Now, they’ve returned to TNA Wrestling and are optimistic about their future.

In an interview on Busted Open Radio, Jeff said his goal in TNA is to win the Tag Team Titles. He still feels “a lot of guilt and shame” for breaking the trust placed in him by AEW and wants to make amends with his brother Matt Hardy.

Here’s what the former WWE Champion said:

“Definitely to win the TNA Tag Team Titles. Basically because I have so much guilt and shame within me still, just from AEW giving me an opportunity — and even Matt — to me breaking trust with my personal issues in real life.

And so, I just want to make that up to Matt. And I can say right here that I will not break TNA’s trust.

That is in my past, and it feels good to have somewhat of a clean slate with all that stuff and kind of start fresh instead of having that guilt and shame about what I did in a certain world of pro wrestling.

So many things have happened since my last run-in with the law that have been really beautiful. It’s like an enlightenment connection I have with everything around me, mainly nature. The force of nature is a huge drive with my internal love.”
