• WWE & Network Partners Are Interested In AEW Wrestler

During an interview with Ariel Helwani back in March, AEW Superstar MJF showed interest in signing with WWE when his contract with All Elite Wrestling expires in 2024.

AEW President Tony Khan wasn’t happy with this interview, because MJF set up this interview without notifying AEW’s PR team.

Khan and MJF ended up having a heated conversation after this.

Ever since then, MJF has been mentioning “2024” and teasing the possibility of signing with WWE, even in his promos on AEW TV.

According to Fightful Select, MJF is legitimately unhappy with his AEW contract status and his comments about joining WWE aren’t in character:

“We’ve not heard of any outward frustration since then from Tony Khan’s side of things. Though the two talked out their issues in the following week, we’re told that sentiment hasn’t necessarily lasted with MJF.

Fightful has heard that MJF’s sentiments about possibly going to WWE when his contract are up are not in character, and it’s a subject he’s already weighed.

There has been at least some progress on his future in AEW, as we’re told there have been open ended mentions about him possibly gaining an extension.”

Word going on is that Tony and MJF aren’t as close as they once were.

In an update from Andrew Zarian, WWE & Network partners are interested in the 26-year-old wrestler:

“It’s more about MJF trying to get the highest value from his new deal as possible. However there is a lot of interest in him from WWE and the network partners, I don’t know how much of a reality it is for him to leave AEW.

In December, a network executive was sold on MJF when I reached out to WWE. They told me they would definitely be interested once his deal is over.

A lot of this comes down to if AEW can lock in a much better TV rights deal. 48 million vs 140 million is a big difference.”
