Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving WrestleMania.

• NXT wrestler Trick Williams has gained attention for his recent performance on SmackDown, particularly during a match where he came to the aid of Carmelo Hayes.

Williams is set to challenge Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship this Sunday at Vengeance Day, and WWE Officials believe he has “future WrestleMania main eventer potential”, according to a report from Haus of Wrestling.

SmackDown’s creative team was reportedly impressed with Williams’ reception on last week’s show, and a top WWE star praised his positive attitude and skill set backstage.

In addition to his NXT Title match, Williams and Hayes will compete in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals against Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker this Sunday.

• As seen on this week’s RAW, Seth Rollins tried to convince 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes to face him for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40, instead of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

In a new WrestleMania promo video released by WWE, Rollins questions Rhodes what kind of champion he wants to be, and the choices were The Ultimate Warrior and Ric Flair.

Flair, who currently works in AEW, posted this footage and said Cody obviously wants to be like him.

Here’s what The Nature Boy tweeted:

“The Answer To That Question Is Obvious! Just Look At How Cody Rhodes Styles & Profiles! WOOOOO!”
