WWE has multiple international premium live events lined up for this year, and they might add one more to the list.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE might do a PLE in Australia this year:
“The idea of doing a major show in Perth, Western Australia, with the local tourism group co-promoting it has gotten more serious as WWE officials went to Perth to discuss such a show and it would be a PPV event.”
The last pay-per-view WWE did in Australia was Super ShowDown 2018, which was main evented by The Undertaker vs. Triple H – Last Time Ever.
WWE has already held two International premium live events in 2023 so far:
– Elimination Chamber (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
– Backlash (San Juan, Puerto Rico)
Below are the other currently scheduled international PLEs for 2023:
– Night Of Champions (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia)
– Money In The Bank (London, England)
– Crown Jewel (Saudi Arabia)
According to both Brandon Thurston, Puerto Rico Convention Center District Authority (PRCDA) and the Puerto Rico Tourism Company paid WWE $1.5 million to bring Backlash to Puerto Rico.
During the WWE Q1 2023 earnings call, Nick Khan confirmed this report when he said the following:
“We also received a 7-figure subsidy for Backlash.”
