• “WWE pulled this John Cena heel turn out of their a$$” – Former WWF Personality

On his Bro Down podcast, former WWF / WCW / TNA writer Vince Russo criticized how WWE has booked John Cena’s heel turn & run so far:

“[WWE] pulled this Cena heel turn out of their a$$. Dutch (Mantell) will tell you, this is the Hogan and the nWo-sized turn. If you’re going to have that kind of a turn, there’s got to be a story, and there’s got to be a build-up, and there’s got to be a reason.

Something had to happen to John Cena over a period of time to make him turn heel. There was none of that.

They needed something, so now we’re going to turn him heel. So, that’s why to me, it’s like when Cena is getting into his promo and he’s trying his hardest to make sense out of this thing, you just can’t make sense out of something that doesn’t make sense. And, he’s trying desperately to do it.”

• Aleister Black Reveals How Many Years He Has Left As A Wrestler

Aleister Black returned to WWE after 4 years on the post-WrestleMania 41 edition of SmackDown. Black laid out The Miz with a Black Mass kick on his first night back.

Josiah Williams of Wrestle & Flow released a mini documentary on Black, where the former NXT Champion revealed that he has 5 to 8 years left as a pro-wrestler.

Here’s what Black said:

“I’m 39. I hope I have another 5 to 8 years left in me. Physically, I feel great. I think this is the best I’ve ever looked. Technology, nutrition, sports science — all of it has evolved. Athletes are competing at higher levels later into their careers now, and I definitely feel like I’m part of that.

But I have no illusions. Most of my career is behind me, absolutely. And that’s not sad — that’s a good thing. To have survived this long and stayed relevant, that’s something I’m proud of.

The fanbase is still there, still supporting me through every setback. It’s heartwarming and something I lost sight of at times.

When you’re used to darkness, it’s easy to fall back into it. But learning to control that feeling has been life-changing. Now, at 39, knowing I have five to eight years left, I’m at peace with it.”
