WWE RAW To Take Place In Saudi Arabia For The 1st Time Ever

Below are some top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, featuring RAW, Tay Melo and SmackDown.

• WWE RAW is set to take place in Saudi Arabia this November.

Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, announced that Saudi Arabia will host the WWE Crown Jewel 2024 PLE on Saturday, November 2, followed by a taping of RAW on Sunday, November 3.

The RAW episode will air on Monday, November 4. These consecutive events are part of Riyadh Season.

“The WWE CROWN JEWEL & RAW show, set to take place over two consecutive days, This event will be one of the global events hosted by Riyadh Season this year, carrying on its annual tradition featuring a stronger lineup of wrestlers within the most powerful, comprehensive, and diverse entertainment season in the world.”

• Tay Melo has been cleared to return to in-ring action. When asked about her return to AEW TV, Tay said the following on Sammy Guevara’s vlog:

“You gotta call Tony Khan and ask him because I don’t know about that. I’m cleared, though. I’m cleared. Mama is cleared! Just got cleared.”

• WWE has announced that Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett will be the new commentary team for RAW starting September 2nd. Meanwhile, Michael Cole and Corey Graves will take over SmackDown commentary from September 13th.

SmackDown moves to USA Network on September 13, while RAW will continue airing on USA Network until the end of the year, before transitioning to Netflix in January 2025.

Tessitore, who joined WWE in July, brings experience from calling Football and Boxing for ESPN.

Pat McAfee, who has been teaming with Cole on RAW, concluded his current WWE run on August 19 to focus on ESPN College GameDay. He is expected to return in January.
