WWE Hall Of Famer Edge wrestled the last match under his current WWE contract against Sheamus on his 25th year anniversary in WWE on last Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

The Rated-R Superstar’s WWE contract will expire at the end of September and it’s unknown what the future holds for him. What’s known is that he won’t wrestle in Toronto again as he said that his match against Sheamus there was his last match in his hometown.

According to PWTorch, Edge told WWE what it would take to re-sign him, but the company does not want to fulfill his requests and passed on re-signing him. This has sparked a belief within WWE that he is probably headed to AEW and knew at that time what AEW could offer him.

WWE not wanting to re-sign Edge could be due to their merger with UFC coming up next month. It has been rumored that the company will let go several employees to make budget cuts.

WWE recently parted ways with Ronda Rousey and Lacey Evans as they did not renew their contracts when they expired.

It should be noted that Edge appeared on WWE’s YouTube show “The Bump” earlier today and indicated that he wants to continue wrestling as he named wrestlers he wants to face in the company that he hasn’t competed against in the past.

Below is what the 11-time World Champion said:

“Oh, wow. Oh. Who have I faced since I’ve come back? I don’t know. Sami, Zayn. But there’s going to be a few like there. There’s not just one, [Matt] Riddle.”
