• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (May 26, 1996) – WWF In Your House 8: Beware of Dog (PART 1)

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on May 26, 1996, the World Wrestling Federation aired the first part of ‘WWF In Your House 8: Beware of Dog’ LIVE on PPV from the Florence Civic Center in Florence, South Carolina.

It was the 8th edition of the WWF In Your House pay-per-views, that took place between 1995 and 1999.

The power went out during the event, caused by a severe thunderstorm, thus resulting in only 2 matches airing that night and the other 3 matches aired 2 days later during the rescheduled pay-per-view, which included the 2 original matches from May 26th.

Here are the results from the first night:

– Marc Mero defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley

– WWF World Heavyweight Championship: Shawn Michaels (c) wrestled The British Bulldog to a no-contest

Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Angel Garza moved to the WWE main roster to replace Andrade as Zelina Vega’s client until Andrade’s suspension ended. He stayed on the main roster even after Andrade returned, as the backstage officials were pleased with his work.

This week on RAW, Garza got a shocking victory over Kevin Owens. The win meant something big, as Garza defeated Owens, who defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 36.

The Wrestling Observer noted that WWE sees big things in Garza, and he may get a push in the future:

“He lost to McIntyre a couple of weeks ago and I think they see something in the guy. I know they should. You gotta beat established guys to go anywhere. If you don’t then you won’t get anywhere. I just hope that they don’t 50/50 it next week, but it was the right thing to do.”
