Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Jinder Mahal and Kevin Patrick.

• Kevin Patrick is under scrutiny within WWE as he takes on the role of lead play-by-play commentator for SmackDown without Michael Cole.

According to PWInsider, there is a sense within the company that Patrick needs to showcase his abilities and make a strong impression to secure his position as the lead commentator for the blue brand.

The pressure is on for him to prove himself as a reliable and capable announcer, and his performance in this pivotal role will be closely observed.

• Jinder Mahal was interviewed on WWE’s The Bump today, where he talked about his return to TV on the Day 1 edition of RAW, having a segment with The Rock and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins & more.

Here’s what Mahal said:

“I’m a little bit offended. More or less I’ve been overlooked. I feel overlooked.

I’m really frustrated at the fact… I was doing my part in helping the next generation, focusing on Indus Sher, but then I see superstars like CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes really be the highlight of RAW and seems to me that the people forgot about The Modern Day Maharaja, the former WWE Champion.

I was trending all day on Twitter yesterday. Somehow again The Modern Day Maharaja is the talk of the town.”
