Below are some top WWE news stories of the day.
• Braun Strowman has shared an update on his WWE absence, revealing that he has been battling a severe illness that forced him to step away from television. The former Universal Champion took to Instagram to address his condition, explaining that a particularly bad flu left him sidelined, but he is determined to return stronger than ever.
Strowman revealed that the illness hit him hard, leading to a significant weight loss of 36 pounds in just a week. “I laid in a hotel room for four days, three with a fever of 102 or higher,” Strowman shared. “My severe body aches are finally easing up. Today is the first day I have been able to move around and really do anything.”
Despite the setback, Strowman expressed optimism and determination. “This is yet another speed bump in the road. I will be back bigger, stronger, and badder than ever!” he declared. “There hasn’t been anything this life has thrown at me that I haven’t been able to overcome, and this sure as hell isn’t gonna stop me from having one of my best years to date! 2025, your a$$ is mine!”
Strowman last appeared on WWE programming during SmackDown episodes on December 13 and December 27, where he was involved in storylines with Carmelo Hayes, Austin Theory, and The New Bloodline. Fans had noted his absence in recent weeks, particularly during the premiere of Monday Night RAW on Netflix.
While his illness has kept him away from the ring, Strowman’s message makes it clear that he’s focused on recovery and ready to make an impactful return in the coming weeks.

• Becky Lynch has been keeping busy with major projects during her WWE hiatus, according to her husband, Seth Rollins.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rollins revealed that Lynch has been working on a ‘top secret project’ since May 2024, set to release before her role in the Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series.
He emphasized that Lynch has not been taking a break but has been deeply engaged with her acting work, with their family traveling extensively for her filming commitments.
Here’s what Rollins said:
“My wife loves acting, she’s way better at it than I am. She’s got awesome stuff coming out. Obviously, she’s announced her bit on Star Trek, I think that comes out in May next year.
She’s got another secret thing that I’m not allowed to talk about that will be coming out sooner than that. You know, people been like, ‘Oh she’s been on hiatus taking a break.’ She has not been taking a break, she has been working her tail off since May.
So she is hustling. We’ve been living all over the place for what she’s been doing. Like the shoots have been in different locations, so we’ve been bouncing around.
Spent like a month in Toronto for the Star Trek thing and I think a month or two in the East Coast earlier last year as well for the other top secret thing. So yeah, she’s been super busy.”
In addition to Star Trek, Lynch is set to appear in Happy Gilmore 2. While she has yet to return to WWE television, Lynch’s packed schedule highlights her rising prominence in the entertainment world. Fans now eagerly await the reveal of her secret project.
Becky recently signed a new contract with WWE and is expected to return to TV soon.
