MVP, who hasn’t wrestled since 2022, indicates that his in-ring career might not be over just yet.
Managerial Role and The Hurt Business
During his current WWE run, MVP has primarily served as a manager. He notably managed Bobby Lashley during Lashley’s first WWE Championship reign amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the formation of The Hurt Business alongside Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin. Despite their popularity, the group was disbanded due to Vince McMahon’s decision, against the members’ wishes.
Partnership with Omos
After The Hurt Business dissolved, MVP began managing Omos. Omos has continued to perform at house shows, defeating Akira Tozawa multiple times since January. His last televised match was on the SmackDown episode before WrestleMania, where he participated in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. MVP’s last match was a disqualification loss alongside Omos against The Street Profits on RAW on July 18, 2022.
Future Plans and Health Update
MVP recently shared on Instagram that he is scheduled to undergo stem cell therapy in Mexico in two weeks. He also expressed a desire to compete in a few more matches before retiring from wrestling.
Here’s what he wrote:
“I’m getting ready for my stem cell therapy trip to Mexico. Getting my body ready. I want to wrestle a bit more before I hang them up for good! What do you think?”
BJJ Black Belt
MVP now has a black belt in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu). He posted the following about it on Instagram:
“So, I did a thing. I achieved a milestone accomplishment in life. After nearly 11 years I have attained the rank of black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. And on the same day my Professor received his 5th degree.
I plan to post a gratitude video very soon. SO many people that contributed to this accomplishment on my journey. So many training partners and teachers to thank. But for now, thank you Professor Andre Santos ( @andregb_061 ) for the passion, the commitment, the time, the friendship and the brotherhood.
You were there every belt promotion, every competition, every win, every loss, every injury, every step along the way.
Also, thank you to Professor @sergiocostagb, Professor @flavioalmeidagb and of course Master @liberigb .
This isn’t the finish line. It’s only the beginning of a new chapter.
‘El fin es el principio.'”

WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker commented the following under MVP’s post:
“Outstanding!! Congratulations my friend! They don’t just give those away!!”
