Sami Zayn asked for some time off from WWE recently and was granted it. He was originally scheduled to return on the “Day 1” edition of RAW on January 1st 2024, but he is returning earlier than expected.
He will return at tonight’s WWE Live Event at Madison Square Garden. Here’s what he tweeted:
“I WILL be performing on WWE’s Holiday Tour. 5 great cities in 5 nights to end 2023, the wildest year of my career.
Tonight – MSG. New York City
Tomorrow – Boston
Dec 28 – Montreal
Dec 29 – Toronto
Dec 30 – Los Angeles
Crazy times. Lots of love.
Thanks for letting me play x
Haven’t been very active on here lately. It’s been a crazy and in some ways difficult time for me, but I’m so grateful to be in such great cities, with such great fans, to end such a remarkable year.
This life has been too good to me. Just know I’m very happy to be here with you.”
Tonight’s MSG event will also feature CM Punk’s first match in WWE in almost 10 years.
Here are some of the advertised matches for tonight:
– CM Punk vs. Dominik Mysterio
– Seth Rollins (c) vs. Drew McIntyre for the World Heavyweight Championship
– Cody Rhodes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a Bullrope Match
This will be the first Bullrope Match at MSG since 1978.
– Judgment Day (Finn Balor & Mr. Money In The Bank Damian Priest) (c) vs. Sami Zayn & Jey Uso for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship
It should be noted that this event has sold over 15,300 tickets. This is WWE’s highest recorded attendance at Madison Square Garden in over 8 years.
