• WWE Star Kept Off This Week’s SmackDown Live Due To His Popularity
Word going on is that former United States Champion Baron Corbin was kept off this week’s SmackDown Live due to his popularity in Kansas City (and WWE wanted to protect his heel status).
Corbin went on to work the dark main event of the evening where he teamed up with Jinder Mahal to face the team of Shinsuke Nakamura and WWE Champion AJ Styles. It should be noted that Corbin got the loudest pop of the evening when he came out.
While Corbin isn’t from Kansas City, he has a lot of ties to that place as he’s a two-time Amateur Kansas-Missouri Golden Gloves regional champion and he also played offensive guard for Northwest Missouri State University in the NCAA Division II.
