Below are a couple of top AEW news stories of the day.

• WWE & TNA Veteran Worked Backstage At AEW Dynasty

WWE & TNA veteran Josh Mathews was present backstage at AEW’s recent Dynasty pay-per-view event held on Sunday. This sighting comes after a previous report of his presence at the March 26th episode of AEW Dynamite.

Mathews is well-known for his extensive career in professional wrestling commentary and production. He initially made his mark in TNA Wrestling (then known as Impact Wrestling) in 2014, stepping into the lead play-by-play commentator role and succeeding Mike Tenay. Prior to his time with TNA, Mathews gained experience in WWE as both a color commentator and lead announcer.

Over the years, while still associated with TNA, Mathews transitioned into a more behind-the-scenes capacity. His final primary responsibilities within Impact Wrestling were as a senior producer and senior director of digital media.

The news of Mathews being backstage at AEW events was initially reported by Dave Meltzer. According to Meltzer, the former TNA and WWE announcer was “backstage working at the show” on the March 26th edition of Dynamite.

It should be noted that Mathews is married to Madison Rayne, who has been a part of All Elite Wrestling for several years.

Despite these sightings and the report from Dave Meltzer, the specific nature of Josh Mathews’ role within All Elite Wrestling remains unknown at this time. Whether his presence is a temporary arrangement, a consulting position, or something more permanent is yet to be officially clarified.

• Chris Jericho Lost One More Thing Along With His Title At AEW Dynasty

At the AEW Dynasty 2025 pay-per-view in Philadelphia, Chris Jericho not only lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido, but also reportedly lost a tooth during the match.

The high-stakes bout, held at the Liacouras Center, had a Title vs. Mask stipulation. In the original finish, Jericho used a baseball bat to strike Bandido in the head, securing what seemed to be a tainted victory. However, Bandido’s family informed referee Aubrey Edwards about the illegal use of the weapon. The match was restarted, and Bandido quickly capitalized, hitting his finisher and winning the title.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer revealed that Jericho suffered more than just a title loss in the match.

“Apparently, what was not a happy ending was Jericho, in fact, did lose a tooth,” Alvarez reported.

Meltzer confirmed the injury, adding, “He did. They talked about it during the match.”

Alvarez elaborated, “Yeah, it actually happened. Sometimes they say that, but… the guy does a spit spot, and they go, ‘Oh, my God, he lost a tooth.’ This guy actually lost a tooth. So that sucks.”
