On last night’s Season Premiere episode of SmackDown, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H cut a promo and called Adam Pearce an unsung hero in WWE over the last 3 years.
He thanked Pearce and shook his hand. Triple H said that managing both RAW and SmackDown is a very difficult job, which is why Pearce will no longer do it alone and will be promoted to being the General Manager of RAW.
The Game then introduced the new General Manager of SmackDown, former TNA and NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis.
Aldis had been working as a Producer for WWE over the past couple of months, and finally made his television debut last night.
According to WrestleVotes, within the last month there were discussions and ideas thrown around in WWE to see if Aldis’ wife Mickie James would be interested in being the Co-General Manager of SmackDown alongside him.
However, that did not happen and Aldis will be managing the blue brand on his own.
Mickie sent out the following tweet after Aldis’ on-screen WWE debut:
“Im’ma lookin… & Im’ma likin.
@RealNickAldis 👀♥️ I love you! I’m so happy right now!!! Can we celebrate already?! 💋🎉
Ps… Aldis Family Business just picked up!! 🔝”
