WWE’s Plan For Roman Reigns Is Working

Roman Reigns once again managed to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship with help from The Bloodline.

Fans are complaining about The Tribal Chief’s part-time status and the same interference finish for every match, and we are being told that’s exactly what WWE wants.

WWE Officials want Roman to become despised, so that the babyface who eventually beats him for the title gets the biggest pop possible and fans appreciate the new champion.

A problem WWE has faced with new babyface champions is that fans turn their backs on them a few months into their title reign, and then those babyfaces are forced to turn heel.

WWE used the same strategy with Brock Lesnar, where they used Brock’s part-time champion status in storylines against Roman Reigns (2018), Seth Rollins (2019) and Drew McIntyre (2020).

The company is also aware that Roman Reigns is capable of using his heat to turn his opponents into big babyfaces. The perfect example of that would be Braun Strowman, who got over with the fans big time in 2017 after he feuded with Roman and beat him, as Roman had a lot of heat at that time after he ‘retired’ The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.

If Roman has more heat, then the babyface working against him will get even more over and that’s what WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H is looking for.

The part-time champion strategy has worked in the past (with Brock Lesnar), and that’s what WWE is doing again.
