• WWF New Generation Era Veteran Hated Entertaining Children

On the latest episode of his weekly ‘Something To Wrestle’ podcast, WWF Veteran Bruce Prichard talked about the WWF Survivor Series 1992 PPV, which included one of the early appearances of the original Doink The Clown, who appeared in the crowd during the Tatanka vs. ‘The Model’ Rick Martel match.

The original Doink The Clown was portrayed by WWF Veteran ‘Maniac’ Matt Borne (aka Big Josh in WCW), who ended up being released from the company and replaced with other wrestlers briefly before the following year’s Survivor Series 1993 PPV.

Here’s what the former Brother Love had to say about Borne playing the evil clown character:

“It wasn’t really a role. It was just Matt with paint on and a wig.

If there was ever a perfect gimmick for someone, this was it for Matt Borne, because he embodied it. He was a perfect evil clown, and he legitimately hated going out there and having to entertain the kids, he hated that. So you had that really miserable, nasty clown.”

Matt passed away in 2013 at the age of 55 due to a drug overdose.
