• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (October 5, 1997) – Old School Wrestling Veteran Passed Away

On this day in 1997, we lost Old School Wrestling Veteran “The Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman at the young age of 35 due to Arteriosclerotic heart disease.

After learning the sport of professional wrestling in the Hart House’s famous dungeon and learning the ropes in Bruce Hart’s ‘Calgary Stampede Wrestling’ promotion, Brian Pillman joined Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling in 1989 as “Flyin’ Brian”.

He stayed with the company till he left for ECW in 1996. He left WCW as a member of the famous faction The Four Horsemen.

After just a few weeks in Extreme Championship Wrestling, Pillman was signed by the World Wrestling Federation and became known as “The Loose Cannon”.

In the WWF, Brian became a member of yet another legendary stable, The Hart Foundation.

As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown, “The Beast” Brock Lesnar hit Kofi Kingston with an F5 and defeated him in 9 seconds to win the WWE Championship.

Xavier Woods of The New Day had the following to say about Kofi’s devastating loss:

“In my opinion Kofi Kingston created the greatest WrestleMania moment of all time. Tonight his title reign was ended by a man who cares nothing for other people, he is wreckless, and he disgust me.

Now begins the hustle to bring that WWE Heavyweight Championship back to The New Day.”
