WCW Legend Bill Goldberg may have reached the twilight of his wrestling career. Initially set for a retirement match after facing Roman Reigns in February 2022, Goldberg found himself disappointed as the promised bout failed to materialize, leaving him questioning Vince McMahon’s commitment.

Since parting ways with WWE, speculation about Bill’s final match has been rampant, with whispers of it happening beyond WWE’s domain. However, in a recent interview, Goldberg hinted that his retirement match plans have taken a backseat for now.

Instead, Goldberg’s focus has pivoted towards his son, Gage, as he transitions from high school to college football. Gage’s commitment to the University of Colorado Boulder mirrors Bill Goldberg’s own collegiate football journey, fostering a deep sense of dedication from Goldberg as he mentors his son through this significant life phase.

Here’s what the 4x World Champion had to say during an interview on ‘93.7 The Ticket’:

“I’ll be perfectly honest with you. I’ve kind of put that on the back burner. Right now, I’ve segued into dad, first and foremost, and husband and car host. I’m just having fun at my garage. So I really don’t have a lot of time right now to dedicate to prepping for a retirement match.

I’m trying to do everything I can in my power 24/7 to get our boy (Gage) prepped for the next phase of his life. And in all honesty, that’s the most important thing I could ever have going. Whether I was ready to step in the ring right now or not, I’d put it all on the back burner for this boy. It’s going to be tough, man.”

As Goldberg prioritizes his son’s development, the prospect of his last wrestling match hangs in uncertainty. Will Goldberg lace up his boots for one final showdown, or has his wrestling saga reached its conclusion? While fans eagerly await an answer, Bill’s steadfast commitment to family underscores the paramount importance of paternal guidance above all else.

In the same interview, the WCW Legend addressed rumors surrounding a potential move to All Elite Wrestling. Despite reports of discussions with AEW President Tony Khan, Bill Goldberg clarified that he won’t be joining the promotion any time soon.

Goldberg cited AEW’s perceived tone, labeling it as “cheesy”, as a major deterrent. Despite engaging in talks with Khan, he emphasized his reluctance to align with a product that doesn’t meet his standards.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I’ve talked to [Tony Khan] a number of times throughout the past. But, you know, and this is where you’re gonna get the most blunt answer you’re gonna get from me. The product is too cheesy.

The product is too cheesy. It doesn’t deserve to have, I mean, whatever, I mean, now you’re really gonna get me going, but if there was a comparable viable option as a competitor that would allow me to still look myself in the mirror after I was a member of their roster, yeah. Then it would be a consideration. But not a chance.”

As a free agent, Bill Goldberg hinted at considering alternatives if they align with his vision. However, for now, he firmly closed the door on any AEW speculation, putting an end to the ongoing rumors.
