Below are some top AEW news stories of the day.

• According to SEScoops, FTW Champion Hook is considering exploring his options in free agency once his contract with All Elite Wrestling concludes later this year.

As the son of ECW Legend Taz, Hook has made a name for himself in the industry, joining AEW in 2020 and earning the moniker ‘Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil.’ At just 24 years old, he has already achieved significant success, currently holding in second reign as the FTW Champion, a title introduced by his father during his time in ECW.

Given his pedigree and rising profile, Hook has attracted interest from both WWE and AEW. A source familiar with WWE’s recruitment strategy expressed, “I can see WWE clearly being interested in him.”

The wrestling landscape has seen significant shifts recently, with AEW securing high-profile signings such as Adam Copeland (Edge), Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks), Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada. Conversely, WWE has bolstered its roster with acquisitions like Giulia and former AEW talents including CM Punk, Jade Cargill, Andrade, Brian Pillman Jr. and Shawn Spears.

With several notable WWE contracts, including those of Becky Lynch, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Sheamus, nearing expiration in the coming months, the competition between WWE and AEW for top talent is expected to intensify, potentially leading to further seismic shifts in the wrestling landscape.

• Last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, which featured footage of the CM Punk – Jack Perry fight from All In 2023 being shown, drew 819,000 viewers with a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is up from last week’s 752,000 viewers with a 0.23 rating.

• Will Ospreay vs. Claudio Castagnoli has been announced for next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
