2. Jacqueline winning the Women’s Championship without winning the Women’s Championship
The World Wrestling Federation attempted to constantly capitalise on the popularity on the Sable v Jacqueline rivalry by trying to keep it fresh. Each week they would face off in arm wrestling contests, bikini challenges and other odd events. The WWF decided to incorporate wrestling to this rivalry and reintroduced the WWF Women’s Championship, which had been trashed by former champion Madusa, who had introduced herself in WCW in December of 1995 by throwing the championship belt in the rubbish bin.
All of a sudden, without a build-up, Sable faced Jacqueline for the Women’s Championship, being the reappearance of the championship within almost three years. Jacqueline defeated Sable for the Women’s Championship… sort of. There was one thing missing from this championship match, the championship.
Jacqueline practically walked out empty handed and didn’t show up with an ACTUAL title belt for about four or five weeks after she reinstated the championship. Why would the WWF not even have a belt to present? Could this have to do with the lack of build up?
