3. Mr. America
In 2003 after WWE WrestleMania XIX, Vince McMahon suspended “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan to sit at home and do nothing, but then SmackDown! General Manager Stephanie McMahon signed a new Super Hero to her roster: Mr. America.
When Mr. America actually debuted, everyone could see it’s the Hulkster, but without proof, what could Mr. McMahon do?
He tried everything, unmasking Mr. America, letting him take a lie detector test … but nothing worked.
At the end the Super Hero unmasked himself after SmackDown! was off the air already one week, but unfortunately for him the Cameras were still rolling, and when Mr. McMahon played them on SmackDown! the following week, he had proof that Mr. America was in fact Hulk Hogan, and fired the Hulkster on the spot, for breach of contract.
This was of course just the kayfabe reason to write Hogan off the show.
