When WCW World Championship Wrestling was bought by the WWF World Wrestling Federation in 2001, the reigning and defending WCW Cruiserweight Champion “Sugar” Shane Helms was also getting signed und WWF contract, but was soon repackaged as the WWF’s very own Super Hero: The Hurricane.
Originally starting out as a comedy cartoon character that wasn’t supposed to work for a very long time, Helms is still using this Gimmick on the Independent scene till this day.
Who could forget when he defeated the Rock prior to WWE WrestleMania XIX in an upset win after “Stone Cold” Steve Austin interfered?
In late 2005 Helms stopped wearing his Super Hero costume for a while, competing under his real name, Gregory Helms.
