3. Candice LeRae Wins The NXT Women’s Championship
Candice LeRae defeated Mia Yim, Bianca Belair and Io Shirai in a fatal 4 way match two weeks ago to earn a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship. LeRae has been a workhorse in NXT since her debut. Tonight, she has the opportunity of a lifetime against Shayna Baszler.
Baszler is currently in her second run as the NXT Women’s Champion and it is one of the longest reigns in WWE today. She has been holding the title for more than 330 days.
Last year, she lost the title to Kairi Sane after which there was speculation of her debut on the main roster. However, she stayed on NXT after her loss and regained the title from Sane.
It looks like the “Tough Cupcake” will dethrone “The Queen Of Spades” as NXT Women’s Champion tonight. With the Draft coming up next week, several NXT stars will be moving to the main roster. Baszler looks like she’ll be one of them.
She has had a terrific reign as NXT Women’s Champion and it’s about time she drops it. Moreover, WWE needs some new faces in the women’s division on the main roster so she should make her long awaited debut next week.
Also, AEW will crown their inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion tonight on Dynamite, so WWE might want to have their NXT Women’s Title change hands as well.
