• AEW Is In A Hurry To Sign CM Punk

According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling will try everything to sign former WWE Champion CM Punk in time for their AEW All Out pay-per-view, which is scheduled to take place on September 5th in Punk’s home town of Chicago, Illinois.

Here’s what was said on the podcast:

“I would say that that there is more urgency, the CM Punk thing is taking a little bit longer, but you kinda got a month and a half, because you definitely want him for Chicago for All Out because if this is it then you want him on that show before Chicago.”

On his weekly ‘Hall of Fame’ podcast, Old School WCW Legend Booker T also commented on Punk potentially signing an AEW contract.

Here’s what the former 5-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion had to say:

“Now, that’s what I’m thinking about CM Punk who’s been away from the game for 7 years. I’m not hating or anything like that, but my thing is this: in my 40s, mid-40s, even though I still looked good, I had a phobia about taking my shirt off in the locker room with the young guys. It’s like, ‘Man, these guys look great. Goddamn!’

You know I had a subconscious thing that I was working with them, even though I still looked good. So, I was thinking, you know, maybe my time has passed me by. Maybe it’s time for me to start doing something else, as well as, ‘Am I losing a step?’ So, I start questioning myself when I got to a certain age. When you start questioning yourself, it’s time to move to something else.”

• Old School Wrestling Legend Would Celebrate His Birthday

Today would have been the 63rd birthday of Old School Wrestling Legend David Von Erich (Real name: David Adkisson).

He was the son of legendary wrestler & promoter Fritz Von Erich and the brother of fellow pro wrestlers Kevin Von Erich, “The Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich, Mike Von Erich & Chris Von Erich. They all wrestled for Fritz’s Dallas, Texas based promotion, World Class Championship Wrestling.

David was considered the most talented Von Erich, which is why there were already plans to have him defeat “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair for the NWA Heavyweight Championship, but he passed away before they had a chance to book that.

In 2009, he, and all of the family members mentioned above, were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by their former rival and close personal friend, Michael “P.S.” Hayes
