After the recent death of Virgil, we are saddened to report that Old School WWWF / WWF Veteran ‘Butcher’ Paul Vachon has also passed away.
He died earlier today on March 1st at the age of 86.
He was the adoptive father of the late great Luna Vachon, and the brother of Mad Dog Vachon and Vivian Vachon.
Paul wrestled professionally from 1956 until he retired in 1987.
Pat Laprade announced the following on Facebook:
“It is with sadness that I announce the death of former wrestler Paul ‘The Butcher’ Vachon at the age of 86 years.
Legend of the world of wrestling, former AWA Tag Team Champion with his brother Maurice, promoter of Grand Prix Wrestling, former WWE wrestler, he has marked more than a generation of amateurs.
More recently, a film about his career and life, The Last Villains, was a critical success.
Sending my condolences to his wife Dee as well as the entire family.
On a more personal note, I’ve been blessed to be by his side for the last 10-15 years. He contributed to several of my projects and became a friend. Thank you for everything Paul I will never forget you.”
