In November 1996, the World Wrestling Federation hyped the debut of WWF Veteran Rocky Johnson’s son Rocky Maivia, who eventually debuted during the Survivor Series 1996 PPV and ended up as the sole survivor of his team.
Not a bad way to debut and him winning the Intercontinental Championship just a few months later, proved without a shadow of a doubt, that the WWF had big plans for him.
Too bad that the majority of fans wouldn’t buy into the smiling Babyface Rocky Maivia and chanted “Rocky Sucks” while some were even holding up “Die Rocky, Die” signs.
Harsh, but hey that’s what happened, so Vince McMahon had no choice but to turn him Heel and what better way than having him join the Nation of Domination stable.
The Rock ended up becoming one of the most popular wrestlers of all time and is now by far the #1 Action Hero in Hollywood, a spot that Arnold Schwarzenegger & Sylvester Stallone shared during the 80s.
