Backstage News On Which Match Got Affected By The Rock’s Long Promo

On last night’s episode of SmackDown, The Rock said the singles match against Cody Rhodes won’t happen, but The Bloodline has a counter offer.

The Great One said the new challenge is: Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 – the biggest tag team match in the history of WWE – The Rock & Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and the walking clown emoji aka Seth Rollins.

Rock said if Cody and Seth can win this match, The Bloodline will be barred from the Roman vs. Cody match on Night 2, it’ll be just Roman and Cody one-on-one in the ring.

However, if Rock and Roman win this match, then Roman vs. Cody on Night 2 will be “Bloodline Rules”, which means anything goes.

According to Fightful Select, this segment went over time by 10 minutes, which resulted in Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton getting cut short:

“The Rock’s segment with Roman Reigns went over by 10 minutes. Naomi’s entrance and some other things were cut from the broadcast as a result. Tiffany Stratton and Naomi were supposed to get a combined two segments, and ended up going 9 minutes including commercials from entrances to the finish.”

Stratton went on to defeat Naomi in this singles match.

The Rock has invited Cody and Seth on next Friday’s SmackDown to answer this WrestleMania XL – Night 1 challenge.

WWE has also announced the following for next week’s SmackDown:

– Bobby Lashley vs. Karrion Kross

– United States Champion Logan Paul will appear
