• Bad News Regarding Randy Orton’s WWE Status

14-Time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton is currently out of action with a back injury.

He hasn’t wrestled since May and was written off WWE programming after a vicious storyline assault by Roman Reigns.

Orton had to undergo surgery, which resulted in the original plan for the SummerSlam 2022 main event being canceled – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

In the latest update provided by Fightful Select, Orton’s injury is very serious and he isn’t expected to return anytime soon:

“Randy Orton required a fusion in his lower back that would keep him out of action for an extended period of time.

There were some in WWE that told us they’d be fortunate to have him back after such a long career and the significance of the injury.

When he was initially injured, Orton insisted he would eventually return. However, there are no creative plans in order for Randy Orton and no timetable for his return.”

This most likely means that Orton is going to miss WrestleMania 39, which is 126 days away.

A few weeks back, during an interview with NBC Sports Boston, former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston was asked who would be a part of his ideal team.

Kofi picked Orton and also confirmed the reports of doubt over Orton’s return status:

“I don’t know if [Randy] Orton is coming back, but I’d put Randy on my team. You know, The Viper and the experience factor.”

Orton completed 20 years in WWE in April and had a celebration segment on RAW.

Earlier this year, Orton said he’s starting to feel the effects of his finishing move, the RKO, on his back:

“I kind of wish I could go back in time and create a finishing move that didn’t entail me jumping up as high as I can and landing on my back.

After doing that a couple of thousand times over the last few decades, I’m starting to feel it.”
