5. Possible Matches For No Mercy 2016
On tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live, The Miz defended his Intercontinental Championship against “The Showoff” Dolph Ziggler. During the match, Maryse tried to end the match the same way it ended at Backlash 2016 – by spraying something into Ziggler’s eyes.
But the referee caught her with the spray and ordered her to leave the ringside area. Miz looked in trouble after Maryse left but Miz picked up the spray which Maryse left outside the ring and sprayed it into Ziggler’s eyes when the referee was busy handing the Intercontinental Title belt back to the bell keeper (Miz tried to escape with the belt during the match but was stopped). Miz then nailed a Skull Crushing Finale to pick up the win and retain the Intercontinental Title.
There have been talks of doing a rematch between the two for the Intercontinental Title inside a Steel Cage at No Mercy 2016, with the reason being that Maryse can’t interfere or hand something to The Miz during the match.
“The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin faced Apollo Crews on tonight’s episode and ended up pinning him with the End of Days. Former World Champion Jack Swagger, who became a SmackDown Live Superstar last week, was on commentary during the match. Corbin & Swagger had another face-off after the match and it looks like the they will square off at No Mercy 2016.
Also on tonight’s show, the team of Nikki Bella & Naomi faced the team of Natalya & Carmella. The match ended via DQ when Carmella ended up taking out Nikki. Carmella & Nikki are scheduled to face-off at No Mercy 2016.
