2. More “Invasions” Coming In The Coming Months, Update on Who Will Main Event SummerSlam 2016
As we saw on this week’s episodes of Raw & SmackDown Live, Randy Orton invaded Raw and laid out Brock Lesnar with an RKO, while Lesnar invaded SmackDown Live and laid out Orton with an F5.
Expect more “invasions” to occur in the coming months as WWE plans to do more inter-promotional matches at the big 4 PPVs (where both the Brands will be featured): Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam & Survivor Series.
There has been a lot of speculation regarding which match will main event SummerSlam 2016. The following are the top SummerSlam 2016 matches which are among the choices of the main event of the PPV:
– WWE Championship Match: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler
– WWE Universal Championship Match: Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor
– John Cena vs. AJ Styles
– Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton
The previous plan was for Rollins & Balor to main event the PPV as the 1st ever Universal Champion will be crowned in that match, but now there are plans for Orton & Lesnar to main event the show. That’s the possible reason behind Orton/Lesnar bout being billed as “15 years in the making”.
Orton & Lesnar have faced each other before in 2002 on an episode of SmackDown, with Lesnar picking up the win. You can watch it below:
