6. Jimmy Wang Yang Returning To WWE?
Former WWE wrestler Jimmy Wang Yang was backstage at this week’s Raw for a meeting with Vince McMahon. It is now being speculated that Jimmy might be returning to the company for the upcoming Brand Split.
Speaking of the Brand Split, it was originally reported by Forbes that WWE contacted many big names including Rey Mysterio & Jeff Hardy. But Wrestling Observer is reported that Mysterio & Hardy weren’t contacted by the WWE officials.
WWE is going after many Indy wrestlers as of late because they need roster depth for the Brand Split, which is just 2 weeks away.
5. “Getting Into Wrestling With An Established Last Name Is A Cursed Blessing” – Curtis Axel
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, former Intercontinental Champin Curtis Axel talked about his late great father “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig and his legacy, getting into wrestling & more. Below is what Axel replied when he was asked “Is it easier to get into wrestling with an established last name?”:
“It’s a cursed blessing. It isn’t easy trying to live up to what my father accomplished–for Christ’s sake, my dad’s name was ‘Mr. Perfect.’ We’re constantly compared, and I couldn’t be prouder to be his son, but I’m not trying to be my father.
It’s a common misconception, because my father is a Hall of Famer and a major star in this business, that the path was paved for me. But that’s the furthest thing from the truth. Some generational guys start their training on the WWE payroll, but I didn’t.”
