• Bryan Danielson Reveals What He Dislikes About His Current AEW Role
Bryan Danielson stepped away from full-time in-ring competition in 2024. Earlier this year, he moved into a full-time commentary role on AEW programming, while Taz recovers from shoulder surgery.
Appearing on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Danielson explained that he still hasn’t fully healed from his most last neck surgery. He admitted that he briefly thought about wrestling again, but the demands of weekly travel, something he doesn’t like about his current AEW role, made him realize it wasn’t realistic.
“I’d like to avoid surgery as much as possible, and so my last neck surgery was really like, I never fully recovered from it. In the sense of getting back the strength gains and the mobility and all that sort of thing. And so I’d really like to avoid it as much as possible.
I was actually doing really well until I started traveling more, and then it’s really gone downhill… I had these delusions about like, ‘Okay, maybe I could get back and do a little bit of wrestling’ or whatever it is. Now I see that they were delusions. This traveling is like, okay, this is not, that would not be a good idea.”
• WWE Has A New Role For Nikki Bella
After several years away from WWE, Nikki Bella made her return at the start of 2025 during the Women’s Royal Rumble match. She then came back for a full-time run ahead of the second Evolution Premium Live Event.
The WWE Hall of Famer has stated that this will be her final run as a pro wrestler. During this run, she has worked with top stars such as Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Asuka, Chelsea Green and Roxanne Perez.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE has discussed the idea of Nikki Bella taking on a heel manager role in the future.
At Survivor Series: WarGames last Saturday, Bella challenged Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship, but came up short. Despite the loss, the WWE Hall of Famer has demanded a rematch against La Primera.
• John Cena Is Not Happy About His Father’s Comments About His Final Match
Earlier this week, John Cena’s father stirred debate when he weighed in on who his son’s final opponent should be. He said that GUNTHER wouldn’t be a wise choice as The Ring General doesn’t need the rub.
He also questioned the idea of passing the torch on the way out, noting that Cena had already done so with Cody Rhodes by defeating him for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41 and later dropping the title back to The American Nightmare at SummerSlam; he went on to suggest other potential opponents for The GOAT’s final match, naming Kurt Angle as his top choice, followed by Edge (Adam Copeland), Chris Jericho and even a wildcard pick of JBL.
Appearing on the Joe Rogan Experience ahead of his final match next week, John Cena addressed his father’s comments and said that he can say some messed up stuff at times.
“There’s some sh*t he’ll say that’s all f**ked up. He said some sh*t yesterday that like, ‘I don’t think John’s last opponent should be…’ and people listen to him because he’s a wrestling fan – and I want to call my dad and be like, ‘What the f**k are you doing?’
But he’s doing what he does. This is him. This is the John Cena I love.”
GUNTHER defeated LA Knight on SmackDown to win The Last Time Is Now Tournament. The Ring General will now face John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
