• Chris Jericho Explains Why Pro-Wrestling Should Be An Olympic Sport
On the latest episode of his ‘Talk is Jericho’ podcast, Old School WWF Legend Chris Jericho surprised pretty much everyone when he stated that he wants professional wrestling to become an official Olympic sport.
Professional Wrestling is considered ‘Sports Entertainment’ and is not a legitimate competition, because it’s fixed, scripted and predetermined.
However, Y2J explained why he still wants to pitch it as an Olympic sport, by saying the following:
“I literally want to go in front of the IOC, the International Olympic Community, and pitch pro-wrestling as an Olympic sport. Now, you might go ‘How can you do that? It’s all’, now, hold on. Stop right there.
Gymnastics, pairs gymnastics, figure skating, pairs figure skating, what is that? It’s two people working together to put on the best performance possible. There is no way we could not do the same with pro-wrestling.”
Several legitimate Olympic Athletes (from Amateur Wrestling, Weightlifting, …) have ended up making the transition to pro-wrestling, including Kurt Angle, Mark Henry, Ken Patera, Chad Gable and Gable Steveson.
