• Chris Jericho Was Responsible For WWF Legend’s Return After 15 Years

At WrestleMania 25, Chris Jericho defeated Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka & Ricky Steamboat in a 1-on-3 Handicap Elimination Match.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Vince McMahon originally wanted Greg “The Hammer” Valentine to be in this match, but Jericho thought Ricky Steamboat would be able to have a better match:

“McMahon chose Roddy Piper, Greg Valentine and Jimmy Snuka as opponents and Jericho felt it would be a disaster for a Mania match and asked McMahon if he could replace Valentine with Steamboat and McMahon agreed, and Steamboat saved the match.”

Steamboat retired from in-ring competition in 1994. So this WrestleMania match was his 1st match in 15 years!

Prior to this, the original plan was Chris Jericho vs. Micky Rourke, but the Actor / former Boxer backed out.

Rourke still got in the ring at WrestleMania 25 in 2009 and knocked out Jericho.
