• Christian Cage On Who Influenced Him To Consider Joining AEW

During a recent appearance on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, former World Heavyweight Champion Christian Cage talked about joining AEW and how he ended up in WWE’s rival company.

Here’s what Christian said:

“It all happened really quick. I wasn’t sure I was going to go after, and all the talks I had were very cordial [with WWE].

I’m good friends with you, I’m good friends with Jon [Moxley], and he talked to me and had his opinions and it made me kinda think, ‘OK, maybe I am doing myself a disservice if I don’t at least explore all my options.’

And, at this final stage of my career, I ended up having a conversation with Tony and it just escalated very quickly. It went very fast. Within a week, it was a done deal.”

During the post-AEW Revolution PPV media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that Christian will be wrestling on a regular basis in All Elite Wrestling:

“I met Christian Cage 7 years ago and he’s a great person and I’ve always really liked him as a person but long before that, I’ve been a huge fan of him as a wrestler.

I think he’s one of the great wrestlers of the last couple of decades. He’s had great matches in different companies, he’s been a great singles wrestler, a great tag champion, and I think he’s one of the best minds in wrestling.

He’s in great physical condition and we saw him very recently compete on pay-per-view (WWE Royal Rumble 2021). There was a lot of interest in it, it generated a lot of interest, and he was interested in wrestling on a regular basis and you know he gave me a call and said, ‘I’d really like to come wrestle in AEW for you,’ and I said, ‘I’d really like to have you come and wrestle for me.’

It all came together great and I think it’s going to be really good.”
