On this day in 1985, one of the most famous matches in the history of the World Wrestling Federation took place. “The War To Settle The Score” between WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper took place in Madison Square Garden and that match saw pop star Cyndi Lauper in Hogan’s corner.

During the match, the referee got knocked out and Paul Orndorff would take advantage of this and join Piper in beating down Hogan. Lauper tried to interfere on Hogan’s part as she got on the ring apron, and Piper & Orndorff turned their attention towards her.

It was at this point that Mr.T, who was sitting in the crowd, came to her aid. Hogan & T then got into a brawl with Piper and Orndorff but they were separated by poilce officers. This would set up the main event for WrestleMania 1. This match aired live on MTV.
