• Doubt Over Randy Orton Returning To WWE
14-Time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton is currently out of action with a back injury.
He hasn’t wrestled since May and was written off WWE programming after a vicious storyline assault by Roman Reigns.
Orton had to undergo surgery, which resulted in the original plan for the SummerSlam 2022 main event being canceled – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
The Wrestling Observer recently reported that WWE Officials are concerned about Orton’s injury and there’s doubt over his WrestleMania 39 status, which is still 5 months away.
During a new interview with NBC Sports Boston, former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston was asked who would be a part of his ideal team.
Kofi picked Orton and also confirmed the reports of doubt over his return status:
“I don’t know if [Randy] Orton is coming back, but I’d put Randy on my team. You know, The Viper and the experience factor.”
Orton completed 20 years in WWE in April and had a celebration segment on RAW.
Earlier this year, Orton said he’s starting to feel the effects of his finishing move, the RKO, on his back:
“I kind of wish I could go back in time and create a finishing move that didn’t entail me jumping up as high as I can and landing on my back.
After doing that a couple of thousand times over the last few decades, I’m starting to feel it.”
