The latest episode of VICE’s Dark Side Of The Ring spin-off series ‘Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential’ focused on the season 1 episode that featured the infamous Montreal Screwjob.

Old School WWF referee Earl Hebner, who played a big role in screwing Bret Hart at the Survivor Series 1997 PPV, revealed that when the Dark Side Of The Ring crew Evan Husney & Jason Eisener came over to interview him, he genuinely thought they were assassins in disguise, coming over to murder him, as a punishment for him screwing Bret.

Here’s what Hebner said:

“Something’s not on. I said, ‘I don’t feel comfortable about this thing!’

Honest to God, I’ve got a buddy on the police force. I started to get him down here and let him knock on the door so if a f***ing bullet came through the door, you’d shoot him and not me!

I really didn’t know if this was a setup or what. And, Howard? The way you started out, made it look like a setup that you were gonna kill my a$$.”
