Former WCW Booker Regrets Not Booking More Matches Between Goldberg & Kevin Nash

Bill Goldberg Vs Kevin Nash nWo Starrcade WCW 1998 Streak PPV

On a recent episode of his ‘Tuesday with Taskmaster’ podcast, NWA/WCW Veteran Kevin Sullivan revealed that he regrets not booking an actual match series between Bill Goldberg and the man who eventually broke his famous winning-streak, Kevin Nash.

Here’s what The Taskmaster said:

“I didn’t mention this before, but trilogies in Boxing always seem to draw, whether it’s Ali-Frazier… any type of great, exciting fight draws.

We should’ve had matches, Nash and Goldberg. They set the world on fire; they changed the whole world. They got people that were no fan of wrestling to become a fan of wrestling.

I think that was our biggest mistake. We were looked down upon by the Brad Siegel’s of the world.

We did a magnificent job, Eric Bischoff did a magnificent job, the wrestlers themselves did a magnificent job.

And my belief is that they could’ve made, you know what I said about the straight finish the first time?

The second time, you could do one too, and the third time, you could’ve had a controversial finish, kept it in the bank, and came back one more time for a fourth one.”

In his professional wrestling career, Kevin Sullivan wrestled for several big promotions, including Championship Wrestling From Florida (1982-1987), Jim Crockett Promotions / World Championship Wrestling (1987-1991 & 1994-2001), Tod Gordon’s Eastern Championship Wrestling (1993-1994) and Jim Cornette’s Smoky Mountain Wrestling (1992-1994).

The Taskmaster also worked as a Booker for several promotions – including WCW on multiple occasions – over the years.

Goldberg wrestled for Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling from 1997 until 2001, including 1 reign as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, before working for Vince McMahon’s WWE from 2003 to 2004, also including 1 reign as World Heavyweight Champion.

He eventually returned in 2016 and was used as a so called part-timer / special attraction until his WWE contract expired in 2022.
