• Taz Says Ronda Rousey’s Gotta Win The Royal Rumble If She’s In It

During a recent edition of “The Taz Show” podcast, former ECW World Champion Taz talked about the announcement of the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match. Below is what Taz had to say about it:

“We heard this big news on Raw where a lot of the ladies were in the ring and fighting and whatever was going on and Stephanie McMahon came out, cut a promo and she got right into it. She did not waste time. She dropped the news that the Royal Rumble will be the first ever all-female Royal Rumble match and it’s great. It’s great for wrestling. More importantly, it’s great for women’s wrestling and for young girls that are looking to come up to be wrestlers. That’s great for them.

When Stephanie came out, when she got in the ring and she cut a promo, I gotta tell you, I think the bulk of those girls were not aware what was about to go down. I think that they were caught by surprise in a good way which is smart if that is what Stephanie and the WWE did. You want to do that as much as you can to get that organic reaction either from your announcers or from the talent in the ring. This is a promo so it’s not like anyone’s getting physical.

I think what Stephanie did, she did shock a lot of those women. You could see the face on so many of the girls in the ring. They were like : What! Happy though. They were super happy. And it was cool. It was a great moment. And they even went on SmackDown on Tuesday and I think they showed a pretty cool package covering it and Charlotte Flair talked about it. It was very cool. WWE is doing that the right way and and I would assume that Stephanie is basically at the helm, handling all of that business there and it’s good stuff, man.

I remember years ago during that whole divas deal and so much good talent, so many of those divas, they were hard working females and talented girls, but so many of them weren’t allowed to really go out and….they were eye candy. It was unfortunate. We live in a different world now which is good. It’s a better world in that regard. So it’s good to see that women are handled as athletes and performers just the exact same way as the guys are. And quite frankly some of these women competitors in WWE are better than some of the guys. I think it’s great.

So great news right there for WWE and big announcements. Hopefully the Royal Rumble match goes off great. A lot of people are wondering is this the time here where Ronda Rousey shows up? Is that what’s gonna happen? Well, I would think there’s a pretty good chance of that going down. I would think she is somewhat ready to do something. I’ll tell you what. If she’s in it, she has got to win that sumb*tch. She’s gotta win it.

I think a lot of folks are looking to see what goes on, maybe they do something with Ronda Rousey and Asuka. So that should be interesting. I think if they did, it’d be cool. Not just as a draw and someone who maybe could definitely take away, in storyline, that undefeated streak by Asuka. But Asuka is a talented enough professional to help a green girl get through a match the right way and get her over like Ronda Rousey.

No matter how tough Rousey is and how successful in UFC and how successful in Judo and all, you still got to be able to apply that craft once you get in that ring and you need veterans to help you. So if she was in an angle or storyline with Asuka, Asuka is definitely a pro enough to help her.”

• Former WWE Champion Serious About Returning For A Final Full-Time Run

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, former WWE Champion Batista is serious about returning for a final full-time run (lasting about 6 to 12 months).

However, if Batista received an offer from Hollywood during his WWE run, then the movie company would have to involve WWE in the negotiations as WWE owns the contracts of their wrestlers.
