• Hulk Hogan Comments On The 34th Anniversary Of His Most Watched Match

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on February 5, 1988, the World Wrestling Federation aired ‘WWF The Main Event’ LIVE on NBC from the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This event still holds the world record for the most watched professional wrestling show that ever aired on television.

It drew a 15.2 Nielsen rating, which equals 33 million viewers, a world record that still stands and it’s also safe to say that this record will never be broken.

Here are the results:

WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship: “Macho Man” Randy Savage defeated The Honky Tonk Man (c) by count-out

WWF World Heavyweight Championship: André the Giant defeated Hulk Hogan (c)

WWF Tag Team Championship: Strike Force (c) defeated The Hart Foundation

Hulk Hogan wrote the following about this event on Instagram today:

“When you talk about drawing money, changing the business, raising the bar, creating history, doing something no one could ever follow, and paving the way for the future talent weather they understand or not, you don’t ever do it on your own!

It takes all the boys to help you, love you and prop you up in the hero spot, but the boys/crew are the real heroes, and you need someone very special, a gift from God, a talent like Andre, like no other, to lead you through a moment in time that will live forever, making that moment immortal!!!

Thank you God, thank you Andre and thank you Hulkamaniacs, the Mania will live forever!!!

Only love HH”
