On a recent episode of his weekly ‘Hall of Fame’ podcast, Old School Wrestling Legend Booker T revealed that he turned down the producers of VICE’s famous pro-wrestling documentary series ‘Dark Side of the Ring’.

They wanted him to be interviewed for an episode about his former manager in WCW, Sister Sherri, better known to WWF fans as Sensational Sherri.

Here’s what the 5-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion had to say:

“I didn’t put any credit in ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ just because I don’t want to see wrestling in that light. Anytime you hear ‘Dark Side,’ it’s not gonna be good.

I just got a phone call, a couple of emails wanting me to be a part of — I guess they’re trying to put together one for Sherri Martel — and I just can’t do it.

Just because I only want to remember Sherri in her greatest light, and I don’t want to be a part of anything that’s remotely negative talking about that woman.”

Booker T then revealed that it was Hulk Hogan’s idea to pair up Harlem Heat (Booker T and his brother Stevie Ray) with Sherri, because Hogan wanted to see Booker & Stevie do well:

“I think Hogan had some influence with that. I know Hogan wanted to put the rocket on us and they tried a few managers with us before Sherri. You know, none of them really worked out. Then when Sherri’s name came up, we were like, ‘Yes, that’s who we need’.”

‘Sensational’ Sherri Martel worked as a valet for the biggest pro-wrestling promotions on the planet back then, including Verne Gagne’s American Wrestling Association (1985-1987), the World Wrestling Federation (1987-1993 & 2005), Tod Gordon’s Eastern Championship Wrestling (1993-1994) and Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling (1994-1997 & 2000).

In 2006, she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by her former client ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase.
